Introduction
Covet ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Covet mobile application and website at shopcovet.ai. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your information when you use our AI-powered shopping assistant.
By using Covet, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Covet does not sell your personal information. We do not share, rent, or trade your personal information with third parties for their advertising or marketing purposes.
Information We Collect
We collect information that you provide directly, that is generated through your use of Covet, and that we receive from your device. The types of information we may collect include:
Account Information
When you create a Covet account, we may collect your email address, display name, and authentication credentials. If you sign in through a third-party provider (such as Apple Sign In), we receive the information permitted by that provider, which may include your name and email address.
Products Users Save
When you save a product to Covet — including via Safari share extension or within the app — we collect the product URL, product name, product image, retailer name, and any metadata needed to display and track that item on your saved list.
Price Monitoring Data
To provide price tracking, we collect and store historical and current price information associated with your saved products. This includes listed prices, sale prices, price change history, and timestamps of price checks performed on your behalf.
Push Notifications
If you enable notifications, we collect a device push token associated with your account so we can deliver price drop alerts and other app-related notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings or within the app.
Analytics and App Performance Data
We collect usage and performance data to understand how Covet is used and to improve reliability and features. This may include:
- App interactions (screens viewed, features used, taps)
- Session duration and frequency of use
- Crash logs and error reports
- Device type, operating system version, and app version
- General location derived from IP address (country/region level only)
Where possible, we use aggregated or de-identified analytics data that does not directly identify you.
How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Covet service
- Monitor prices on products you save and notify you of meaningful price changes
- Personalize your saved product list and alert preferences
- Send transactional communications, including price drop alerts and account-related messages
- Diagnose technical issues and improve app performance and stability
- Understand usage trends to develop new features and improve existing ones
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access
- Comply with legal obligations
AI-Powered Features
Covet uses automated and AI-assisted technology to help identify products, extract pricing information, and determine when price changes may be relevant to you. Product and pricing data associated with your saved items may be processed by these systems to deliver alerts and improve accuracy over time.
We do not use your personal information to train general-purpose AI models for unrelated purposes. AI processing is limited to providing and improving the Covet shopping assistant experience.
Data Sharing
We may share information in the following limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With vendors who help us operate Covet, such as cloud hosting, analytics, customer support tools, and notification delivery services. These providers are contractually required to protect your data and use it only to perform services on our behalf.
- Legal Requirements: When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Covet, our users, or others.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to the acquirer honoring this Privacy Policy.
We Do Not Sell Personal Information
Covet does not sell personal information as defined under applicable privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). We do not share personal information with third parties in exchange for monetary or other valuable consideration for their own commercial purposes.
